SANTA DADS

“We, The Santa Dads, create music through voice, multivocular technique, ukulele, trumpet, and the occasional French horn and organ.  We create to express our philosophical, metaphysical, scientific, and religious understandings; more specifically, our perceptions, conceptions, and experience of existence, time, information theory, and the spirits. 

Namely, we are Joshua Kelberman & Connor Kizer.

We are based in Baltimore, MD and are founding members of Wham City, a friendly collective of artists.  Since April 2005, we have played numerous shows in Baltimore and have toured repeatedly throughout the east, west, north, and south of the United States with Dan Deacon, Video Hippos and Ecstatic Sunshine.

We love and praise The Anima Mundi, The Blind Elemental Forces, The Father, The Mother, The Son, The Daughter, The Spirits, The Stars, The Planets, The Plants, The Animals, The Minerals, and all fellow Humans, et al, ad

Santa Dads are an exercise in the absurd at the same time they are an exorcise of love and demons.  They have startled many an audience with their costume and unusual demeanor, only to hook their hearts in the end with songs like “You Don’t Know” and “Open Portals”, messages full of profundity and passionate confusion over this everyday world.  They are an anomaly derivative of Dada and enamored with Ween.  There truly is no other like the Santa Dads.

As legend has it, the band was thus named by Dan Deacon in 2005.  Dan had a habit of adding fake band names to fliers he made.  One of these names was “Santa Dads”.  When Connor and Joshua inquired about who Santa Dads were, Dan bestowed upon them:  “You are.”  And so, the band began.  The legend is truth.

Santa Dads’ album, ANIMA MUNDI, marks the beginning of WILDFIRE WILDFIRE RECORDS’ discogrpaphy at WFWF001.  We are proud parents of Dads.
The CD includes a beautiful and charming 12-panel fold-out poster of Santa Dads’ lyrics and hyjinks in a comic style by Dina Kelberman.

SANTA DADS have toured the USA with Dan Deacon, Video Hippos, OCDJ and Ecstatic Sunshine, as well as being participants in the Baltimore Round Robin tours.  They have also gone on several tours to Mexico.
